Vegan MoFo 2016 #2: The Rolling Donut, Dublin

I will admit that I am not the biggest fan of doughnuts, but when I saw on Twitter that The Rolling Donut were doing a range of vegan doughnuts, I knew I had to check it out! No vegan sweets are safe from me!

I went to their new shop up by the Stephen's Green shopping centre to see what was on offer. The vegan doughnuts are labelled vegan, but the flavours aren't labelled so you have to ask (or you could just say "all the vegan ones please!" and guess for yourself as you're eating them, I suppose!). I got two, cinnamon sugar and strawberry jam. The other varieties were coffee creme, pistachio and glazed raspberry (or strawberry, I can't remember).

The two were €5, which isn't bad for Dublin city centre prices, and were really good! They are yeasted doughnuts, not tooth-achingly sweet, a bit bready and not greasy. I will definitely return to try the other varieties.

  1. Wow -- what a great find! I've been aching to return to Ireland (which would definitely include some time in Dublin), and the promise of vegan doughnuts makes a visit even more tempting!

  2. Those look so good -- I've made baked doughnuts at home but they just aren't the same! I have fond memories of filled doughnuts but haven't figured out how to recreate them.

  4. Lucky you! There's nowhere in my city to get vegan donuts, I miss them so much.

  5. Yum!! I haven't visited Dublin since 2002, and I definitely didn't get to have any vegan donuts there. Now I'll have to come back!!

  6. Thank you for your kind comments, amd sorry for the delay in getting back to them! Yeah the vegan scene in Dublin is growing all the time, even in the last couple of years vegan options have become more common.
