I bought a tin of artichoke hearts ages ago, just out of curiosity really, I'd never tried them before. Well, today I finally got around to using them, well half of them anyway. Opening them I was a bit scared because I didn't know what they'd smell, taste or even really look like. That's all part of the fun of trying new food, I suppose! I was going to make an artichoke-spinach dip but that seemed to involve alot of effort on my part, I was lazy and wanted a spread that would be easy to make, that I didn't have to cook and would let me know what artichokes tasted like. I made a basic enough spread based on the one found in
this recipe, although I forgot to put in the almonds.

The resulting spread was put on a demi-baguette with lettuce, red pepper and onion... mmmm.. simple but delicious! I'd say the say onion somewhat masked the flavour of the artichoke spread but it seemed to have a light, garlicky flavour to it. It wasn't quite humous but it wasn't bad either.
Now I need to find another recipe to use up my leftover artichoke hearts!
I also need to find something to use that saurkraut I bought.. me and my curiosity are dangerous!!
