It's the eternal question, how do I spend so much money on my shopping and yet have no food?
The obvious answer is that I actually do have food, I just amn't bothered coming up with ways to use it all and instead just buy more bread and peanut butter! Generally food shopping here isn't too expensive but I am definately a fiend for impulse buys. I went to the shop earlier to buy hummus and ali-i-oli sauce and came back with some coconut milk, puréed tomatoes, dried pinto beans and some chipotle chillis!
So, having come to this stark realisation, I'm setting myself a challenge to try and use up everything in my press (yes, my kitchen here is tiny, I have a food press singular!) and fridge. This includes the random things I bought either to use for only one recipe or just out of curiousity!
For some unknown reason that no doubt make sense at the time, I didn't bring any of my cookbooks with me so I've been scanning through VegWeb for divine inspiration! I really wish I'd brought Garden of Vegan, here I am living without an oven and it has an entire section for microwave recipes! I'll make sure to retrieve it when I go home for Christmas!
