I'm aware that there are some really good no-bake recipes out there. I've tried Microwave brownies and No-bake peanut butter and chocolate biscuits before and they were nice so I may make those again.
Does anyone have any other good oven-free recipes for sweets?
Glasvegan has pointed out that there are really good microwave recipes in 'Garden of Vegan', which I do own, although I didn't bring it with me. As far as I remember it's mostly for savoury stuff although I think it has an apple crisp-type of recipe too?
If anyone has any good recipes they'd be willing to share it would be much appreciated!

Ugh! I miss my oven so much when we're traveling! You can make stove top cakes over a very low heat. I don't really have a recipe because when we're traveling I always wing it, but try making a 1/2 batch of your favorite cake (it shouldn't be a cake with a very runny batter) in a saucepan. As long as you spray the bottom and sides of the saucepan with cooking spray, and as long as you cook the cake on low without removing the lid for at least the first 20 minutes, you should end up with a cake! Of course a microwave on medium power would be faster! :D
ReplyDeleteI have also made cake batter shaped as pancakes (also with a not too runny batter) cooked on a skillet, and then I layered them up with yummy buttercream in between to form a purdy cake. There's a picture of one of my pancake cakes on my blog, but I'll link to it in another comment below this one or blogger will immediately assume it's spam (that new spam catching feature is nice, but it doesn't distinguish spam from honest links!) Good luck with the ovenless baking! :)
Here's the link to the picture of the pancake cake

ReplyDeleteI'm sure it's bad for you but hey, it's chocolate cake, how bad can it be?
Wow, thanks for the idea about stove-top cake, I'll definately give that a try at some stage. And Glasvegan, sometimes chocolate cake is very very good :D
