These Great Food veg cakes (veggie burgers) were on special offer in Dunnes Stores last week, two for €5, so I decided to give them a go. There are a few flavours in the range, but I went for the Quinoa, red lentil & beetroot and Aromatic Moroccan varieties. Each packet contains two fresh veggie burgers, so they can be heated through or eaten straight from the package.
I was really impressed by both flavours. I think both beetroot and fruity Moroccan-style dishes have a tendency to be a bit sweet, but these burger varieties had enough spice to balance out the sweet flavours. Even though there are only two burgers per packet, they are quite generously sized. I tried them with salad and also as a sandwich filling on a bagel.
