Vegania

Did you know that there is an all-vegan health food shop and eco-centre in Barcelona? Neither did I!
It had a total of no reviews on Happy Cow but I noticed from the address that Vegania was near me so I thought I'd go down and have a look.
It advertises itself as 100% Vegetarian but to my absolute joy it is all-vegan. They have vegan literature, sell vegan mugs and tshirts and have a pretty vast selection of vegan food. I've been there twice already and I still feel overwhelmed (in a good way!) by the fact that I can have everything!
They have an entire fridge full of tempeh/tofu/seitan products that are all vegan as well as a freezer with Booja-Booja and Swedish Glace ice-cream, Fry's and Redwood's vegan meats and other assorted miscellany. The shelves have packaged vegan cakes, biscuits and breads in addition to packaged meal mixes that I've never even seen in Ireland, such as tofu scramble and taco filling.
My purchases so far (no doubt the first of many) have included...

Chocolate buns (I think you can guess what happened to the rest of the packet!)

      An orange chocolate croissant.

I bought this purely out of curiousity, and because it was up at the counter, which anyone who has ever worked in retail knows is often referred to as the 'impulse buying zone' by companies. It works! I've never been a fan of pastry but this was more on the bready side, plus the chocolate cream on the inside is just dreamy! Perfect with a cupán caife!
I've also bought some tempeh, vanilla Swedish glace and washing-up liquid.

Vegania is definately a shop I want to support, I'm going to start buying my tofu/tempeh there instead of places like Biospace or Veritas. They're great too, don't get me wrong, but it is so nice to find a shop that doesn't rely on selling animal products for its business. I got the shock of my life a few weeks ago in Biospace when I went to what was usually the ice-cream freezer and it was full of giant hunks of meat!

I'm still trying to cut down on my impulse purchases and use up what I have. I definately have been buying less but with a place like Vegania within walking distance of my house, can you blame me? I'm only human!
