Monday round-up 7: Vegan Life magazine issues one and two

I am very excited to be offered the chance to be a Vegan Life magazine blogger. I am not a high-profile blogger who is sent freebies (except for those Divina Teresa veggie burgers last year, which was a happy happenstance of living in Barcelona), so this is a big novelty for me. Especially seeing as I bought the first two issues and really enjoyed them.

Before the third issue comes out next month, I would like to talk about my favourite bits from the first two. I love that the magazine covers such a wide variety of vegan lifestyle topics!

Issue one Sept/Oct 2014

A great piece about a woman who runs a veganic (vegan organic) farm near Liverpool. Veganic farming uses no animal or slaughter by-products to grow organic vegetables.

Fiona Oakes is a vegan who runs ultra-marathons, runs a farm sanctuary and works as a fire-fighter. She is a vegan super-hero!

A mother writes about raising her two children as vegans. It is always reassuring to hear positive stories of healthy, happy vegan kids.

Issue two Nov/Dec 2014

A nice reminder that veganism isn't all about "health foods", it is about the animals. So treat yourself!

An article from the brilliant Dr Hadwen Trust about how animal-testing, despite being a legal requirement for new medicines, is an ineffective testing model with many alternatives to explore.

"Where do you get your protein". It is always nice to have a refresher course on protein, it's still one of the (ignorant) questions vegans get asked the most.

  1. I too am a blogger who has only ever received one freebie - the fairypants Piña Colada perfume tester. Mind you, I got three blog posts out of it. It looks as if I should start buying "Vegan Life" so I can leave used copies in waiting rooms ...

  2. Perfume is a nice freebie! Also buying vegan magazines to leave in waiting rooms is a really good idea! I haven't seen the print copies here yet though.
