VegFest and other fun in Brighton

I'm just back from a fun weekend break spent in Brighton, centred around the VegFest. I had never been to Brighton before, but its only an hour away on a cheap flight and it has vegan food, so I thought "why not?".

Brighton is a very cool, quirky little city. I enjoyed my trip, the VegFest was fun and the weather was nice for walking around discovering shops and side streets, wandering down the pier and promenade, enjoying the sea air. I even remembered to take some pictures of stuff this time...

100 ml toiletries to take on the plane; Superdrug toothpaste, Dr Organic coconut oil deodorant, Laidbare spot cream and eye cream, North American Hemp Co hair serum, Superdrug hand sanitiser and Lush Vanillary solid perfume.

Snacks found in Dublin airport in WHS Smith. The first time I have seen the little Graze snack boxes in Ireland. Not all of them are vegan, but they have a good selection of vegan ones.

Once I flew into London, got the train down to Brighton, checked into my hotel and queued around the corner to get into VegFest, I was hungry! The Loving Hut had battered tofu fish and chips, and while batter wouldn't be my favourite, I couldn't resist the novelty. It was huge! It was tasty, but honestly I didn't love it. I was glad I tried it for something different, but probably wouldn't get it again.

My haul from the VegFest and subsequent wanderings around Brighton; Cheezy Kale popcorn (came with the VegFest programme), Traidcraft double chocolate chunk cookies (from Infinity Foods), Ms Cupcake lemon earl grey cupcake, cute vegan mug from Chiaralascura, Super Seeds 9 Bars (Infinity Foods), Freedom mini marshmallows, Ananda's marshmallow Round Up, iChoc chocolate, Chiaralascura Hummus Lovers Club badge, Avocado Addicts Anonymous sticker and black shoe polish from Vegetarian Shoes.

In what was the start of the trend of me bringing my own food to Pret-a-Manger, I had a Boston Creme doughnut from Pomodoro e Basilico with my soya latte.

Vegan breakfast from Infinity Foods; polenta, baked beans, mushrooms and tofu with some earl grey rooibos. Nothing extraordinary, but it filled the gap, and Infinity foods had wifi. I also picked up a vegan blt sandwich to have later at the airport.

Ms Cupcake Lemon earl grey cupcake and tea in Pret.

Matcha latte, leek and celariac soup and garlic bread in VBites. I know it seems like a shame not to avail of the other amazing options in VBites, pizzas, Sunday roasts, vegan meaty sandwiches, but honestly when I got there I wasn't that hungry. Soup was just right.

Tea, spicy tomato lentil soup and my vegan blt sandwich, enjoyed in Pret in Gatwick airport.

My Round Up biscuit, also eaten at the airport. I really enjoyed it, especially as I didn't really read the label, so didn't expect the jam centre!
