Frozen Quiche

I found these in Vegania yesterday, frozen quiche! I had never had quiche before, even though it seems to be pretty common dish for restaurants and delis to thrust upon those who eschew meat. Oddly enough, what always put me off it wasn't the egg, in fact I was quite the fan of eggs in my day, but the pastry. I just simply do not like pastry, especially the flakey types. I personally believe that this anomoly has saved me from certain obesity, as I simply cannot stomach eclairs, doughnuts, croissants, profiteroles or anything of that ilk. There are a few minor exceptions to this, mainly depending upon how bready the texture of the pasty is, but I digress.
In the spirit of culinary adventure, I decided to give cruelty-free quiche a chance! It seems to be made by the same company that makes Tofutti, and it includes Toffuti cream cheese in the recipe.

Having defrosted one of the quiches overnight in the fridge, I heated it up in the microwave to have for breakfast. It sunk a little bit in the microwave but in fairness, it's not designed to be microwaved so that it entirely my own fault. Overall I was quite impressed, the texture was pretty smooth and omelette-esque, it wasn't too bland (as processed frozen food oft is) and there wasn't an over-abundance of pastry. Pieces of the pastry that stayed attached to the main quiche were okay but I couldn't bring myself to eat the bits that became seperated. Strange yes, but we all have our quirks.
